US Congressman. He graduated from Washington College, in 1814, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1818 and commenced to practice law in Washington, Pennsylvania. In addition, he engaged in agricultural pursuits, was a trustee of Washington College, of Washington Female Seminary, a member of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, and served in the Pennsylvania State Senate. In 1845, he was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-ninth Congress, serving until 1847. After his term, he resumed agricultural pursuits until his death at age 90.
