Marvin ''Shorty'' Scherf, 64, of rural Milford, died Thursday (Jan. 22, 1998) from injuries sustained in a semi-truck accident happening south of Crescent City on Route 49.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Schwer.

He was born Feb. 27, 1933 in Milford, the son of John Philipp and Peterke Lucht Scherf.

He was employed as a semi-truck driver for Agri-Tech in Goodwine.

Surviving are his wife, the former Renee DePatis, whom he married June 11, 1961 in Schwer; one daughter, Misty Scherf of Stockland; one son and daughter-in-law, Tracy and Jill Scherf in Milford; two grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Scherf of Orlando, Fla.; four sisters, Kathryn Meyer of Blue Island, Johanna Lehmann and Marie Garelts of Milford and Louise Bruens of Watseka.

Deceassed are his parents and two brothers.

He worked in the local farming community for the past 40 years and was a custom spraying operator.
