GOLDEN VALLEY, N.D. - Carl Kiesz, 84, of Golden Valley, a resident of the Bethel Lutheran Home in Williston, passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Golgatha Lutheran Church in Golden Valley. The Seibel Funeral Home of Beulah is in charge of arrangements.
Carl Kiesz was born May 9, 1918, to Christian and Maria (Eisenbraun) Kiesz on their homestead, eight miles south of Golden Valley. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Carl was raised and educated at a country school. He worked on the family farm and also worked with beets for a time at Sidney, Mont.
Carl was united in marriage with Esther Ginther in 1948, at Zap. Carl and Esther took over the homestead south of Golden Valley and farmed there until they retired in 1979. They then moved into Golden Valley. Esther died in 1982. Carl loved the land, worked hard and put in some good crops. He loved watching them grow. He also loved raising cattle and watching over them. Carl loved his family very much. His grandchildren, his great-grandson, Tristen, and his nieces and nephews were all very special to him.
Later in life, he met a special lady, Vera, and they enjoyed dancing and did some traveling together. Vera added many good years to Carl's life. He like to hunt and fish. He loved the land and said one day that he had a good life and many good friends.
Carl is survived by his daughter, Betty Keith and her husband, Kelly, of Williston; an adopted son, Van Kiesz and his wife, Joann, of California; a grandson, Sonny Sailer and his wife, Christi, of Mandan; a stepgrandson, Brian Keith of Williston; four adopted grandchildren, Kim, Van Jr., John and Christian, all of California; his great-grandson, Tristen, of Mandan; special friends, Megan, Vera and Julie Martin; a brother, Edward Kiesz and his wife, Shirley, of Bremerton, Wash.; a sister, Hulda Swenson and her husband, Alton, of Halliday; a half-sister, Helen Kuch of Elgin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther; an infant daughter, Margie Marie; a brother, Harold Kiesz; five half-brothers, Reinhold Faut, William Faut, Ferdinand Faut and Jake Kiesz; and five half-sisters, Anna Kiesz, Mattie Kramer, Rose Link, Katie Mueller and Martha Highbe.
