John Burnside Sr., 74, of Springfield died at 8 p.m. Wednesday at his residence. He was born Sept. 17, 1913, in Miami, Mo., the son of James and Ella Witt Burnside. He married Rosella Griffitts in 1939. Preceding him in death were two sons, James and Homer, and one sister, Edith Swisher.
Mr. Burnside was a member of Calvary Temple Church. He was retired from Hubbard Mill Company after 23 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Rosella; one son; two daughters; five granddaughters; one sister; and three brothers.
Remains will be cremated. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
