According to the NARA POW records Pvt. Thomas M. O'Laughlin served with C Company, 803rd Engineer Battalion (Aviation) in the Philippines during WWII. He was taken prisoner when the Japanese invaded the Philippines shortly after the attack at Pearl Harbor.

"Body of Thos. M. O'Loughlin Arrives" DIED IN JAP PRISON CAMP, MAY 28, 1942
The body of Pvt. Thomas M. O'Loughlin, son of the late Thos. O'Loughlin and Rose O'Loughlin arrived here Thursday at noon, having been returned from a Japanese prison camp where he died as a prisoner of war May 23, 1942.
He was born in New Martinsvillle, May 23, 1920, and graduated from Magnolia high school, and attended West Virginia University for two years. His schooling at the university was terminated when he enlisted in the U.S. Army Aviation Engineers at Dunkirk, N.Y.
Upon completion of training, he was sent to Hawaii, and later to the Phillippine Islands, where he participated in the heroic defense of Corregidor, and took part in the infamous Death March of the survivors.
His father and two brothers, Hartzel and Joseph O'Loughlin, preceded him in death.
The body was removed to the Wells Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Vincent de Paul's Catholic Church with Rev. Father J. Navagh, of Cattaraugus, N.Y. officiating. Interment in North View Cemetery will be in charge of the Wells Funeral Home. Military Honors at the graveside will be conferred by Marne Post No. 28, The American Legion.
