Hadassa Olive White Cornwell
Hadassa Olive White Cornwell, age 95, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at her residence.
Olive was born in 1919, in Frederick County, Virginia, the daughter of the late William E. and Lyda D. White. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Victory Church on Middle Road. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a volunteer with Olive Branch food pantry at Victory Church from 1984 until 2011. She also volunteered as a friendly visitor at a local nursing home from 1978 until 2002. Quilting was a love of hers, to ensure that all of her grandchildren, their children, and their children's children each had one. She had a vegetable garden and flowers of which she was very proud.
Olive married James E. Cornwell on August 20, 1936 in Winchester, Virginia. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1991.
She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Willis and husband, Buddy, and Marsha Boden and husband Bob, all of Frederick County, Virginia; her son, Ronnie Cornwell and wife, Phyllis of Frederick County, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Debby Ashby and husband, Bob, Duane Cornwell, Denise Willis, Kevin Cornwell and wife, Charlie, Donna Willis, Mike Boden and wife, Ruth, and Deanna Simmers and husband, Ed; fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her three sisters, Mozelle Grim, Gladys Wilson, Mattaroy Ramey, and one great-granddaughter, Desiree Cornwell.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Pastor Hartley Wigfield and Pastor David Cunsolo officiating.
Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
