He was born Aug. 26, 1930, in New Bedford, Mass., to Julius and Albertine Rose Alexander.
A high school graduate, he later attended Lane Community College. He served as a corporal in the Marines from 1952 to 1955 and received a Good Conduct medal.
He was a commercial fisherman for 18 years, and enjoyed fishing, maintenance and mechanic work. He belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 290.
Survivors include a daughter, Tina Alexander of Palm Bay, Fla.; two sons, Tony Jr. of Florida and Manuel of Boston; a brother, Julius of Harvard, Mass.; and a sister, Dorothy McKnight of New Bedford.
Wednesday's celebration will be at 3:30 p.m. at Olive Plaza Retirement Center, 1133 Olive St. in Eugene. Private inurnment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. England's Eugene Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
