Professional Basketball Player. Born Robert Aaron Williams, he attended Milby High School in Houston and played collegiate basketball at the University of Houston. During his years with the Cougars, he achieved All-American honors twice and was a key player (at the guard position) on the Houston squad which reached the "Final Four" during the 1982 NCAA Tournament. Selected by the Denver Nuggets as the 19th overall pick during the first round of the 1982 NBA Draft, Williams totaled 153 regular season games in two seasons (1982 to 1984) and complied 1,319 points with 825 assists. After leaving the NBA, he extended his playing career in the Continental Basketball Association and the United States Basketball League. Williams was inducted into the University of Houston Hall of Honor in 2006. In 1998, Williams suffered a stroke which resulted in his left eye being blind in addition to paralysis on his left body side. He died of complications from heart failure.
