March 7, 2023 NOTICE: It has just come to light that there is also a memorial for Susan in the Thomson Cemetery (17496974). Neither memorial has a photograph of a gravestone. The former manager of the Thomson memorial, Jennie, and I have conflicting information. With Jennie's knowledge of our conflict, I checked my sources. I originally obtained Susan's burial location from usgenweb.org for Missouri for cemeteries in Ray County, Missouri. All of those cemetery "inventories" have been removed due to new ownership of the listings. My source now is:

Ancestry.com
Ray County, Missouri Cemetery Records, Volume I-III
Name Susan Blevins
Death Age 65 Years, 3 Months, 26 Days
Cemetery Kincaid Cemetery
Cemetery Notes Located one and a half mile south of Knoxville, Mo.; one mile east and one fourth mile north. Copied by Mrs. Carlton Richardson, Rayville, Mo. December, 1965.

I have asked a Find A Grave volunteer to conduct a thorough search for Susan's gravestone in Thomson Cemetery. Hopefully the search will end there.

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Susan's gravestone states her age as 65 years, 3 months, 26 days. From census records her year of birth was about 1822. This would make her approximate year of death 1887. .[Information from review of record of cemetery burials in Kincaid Cemetery.
MoGenWeb.org.]

Susan was born in Tennessee, possibly in Claiborne County. Her parents were James Pierce and Mary Sloan. Their burial locations In Campbell County are unknown. Susan's grandparents were John Pierce, Memorial 8052055, and Martha Pierce, Memorial 5654786. I have been unable to identify parents of William Blevins. Census has his birth in Virginia.

Susan and William Blevins were married on April 11, 1842 in Campbell County. They had five children, all born in Tennessee before the family migrated to Missouri.

Of the five children, three married children of William Carter Carroll and Mary S Monday. They are my great uncle and aunt. William Carroll was the brother of my great grandmother Elizabeth Carroll Pierce. Mary Monday was the sister of my great grandmother Sarah Jane Monday Butler. Susan's father James is the son of my great great grandparents, John and Martha Pierce.

For the longest time I had DNA matches with this family, but I was never sure whether the connection was to my Carroll, Monday or Pierce ancestors. Finally, Susan's daughter Martha married a Hutchison, thus excluding any Carroll or Monday DNA, and providing the Pierce match directly to Susan Pierce Blevins.
