"Ben Marvin Stroud, 56, of 627 Elmwood, died yesterday at the General hospital. He was born in Melbourne, Ark., and had lived here 40 years. He was a member of the Eagles club and of Operating Engineers local No. 6. He was a member of the Fifteenth Street Baptist church. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Verna L. Stroud, a son, John M. Stroud, and a daughter, Mrs. Sue Breidel, all of the home; three other daughters, Mrs. Betty Johnson of Independence, Mrs. Beverly Thompson of 5019 Emery and Mrs. Geraldine Dillee of 442 Colorado, North; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Johnston of 3109 Tracy and Mrs. Derucy Hackathorn of Lecompton, Kas.; and six grandchildren. Services will be at the Earp chapel at 1 o'clock Wednesday; burial in Green Lawn Cemetery." The Kansas City Star, April 6, 1964
