Kenny was the son of John Meyer and Minnie Voll. On 07 Oct 1953 he married Marilyn Piotrski and they had two sons, Kenny, Jr. and David. Kenny was a member of the US Army and he was a veteran of the Korean War. He served as a paratrooper and was awarded a Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. He was a plumber by trade. Marilyn died in 2000 and Kenny survived her for almost fourteen years, dying at the age of 84.
