James Edward Hamburg, 89, of Raymore, MO passed away March 30, 2014. A visitation will be 5-7 PM Thursday, April 3, 2014 at St. Sabina Catholic Church with rosary at 6:30 PM. Mass will be 10 AM Friday, April 4, 2014 at the church. Graveside will be 2 PM at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Sabina Catholic Church 700 Trevis Ave. Belton, MO 64012 or Catholic Community Hospice 9740 W 87th St, Overland Park, KS 66212. James was born April 24, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of John and Mary Castel Hamburg, Sr. James was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Vera Hamburg. He is survived by eight children, MaryJoan Johnston and husband Ken of Independence, MO, Jim Hamburg, Jr. of Overland Park, KS, Ann Falasiri and husband Ala of Tampa, FL, Karen Mozafari and husband Hossein of Leawood, KS, Tom Hamburg and wife Carrie of Raymore, MO, Veronica Brassart and husband Donald of Wesley Chapel, FL, Rita Hamburg of Raymore, MO and Peggy Smith and husband Glenn of Centerview, MO; 22 grandchildren, Cari, Cameron, Amy, Travis, Jennifer, Shireen, Yasi, Moji, Alaina, Michael, Katie, Christa, Maryanne, Nichole, Casey, Donnie, Terry, Frank, Sara, Vince, Tommy and Todd; 17 great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Lyndsey, Lachlan, Lindsey, Billy, Madison, Alyssa, Nila, Ollie, Audrey, Johnathan, Skyler, Emma, Autumn, Dustin, Alerah and Ethan. James was a helicopter pilot for the US Navy and retiring after 20 years of service.
