Esther was the daughter of Jabez Bradley and Esther (Ester) Beach Bradley of Hamden, Connecticut.
She was married to Michael Gillett on June 13, 1782,in New Hartford, Connecticut and they and their children came to Marcellus in the first years of the 1800's. It seems likely they made the trip here as Esther had a brother, Judge Daniel Bradley who was one of the earliest settlers in the town and a man of influence. The Judge was also a founding member of The First Church of Christ in Marcellus and it was to this church that Michael became a member. It is known that Esther died, almost certainly in Marcellus, before 1808, as when Michael left to go to Prattsburgh, Steuben County, New York, that year, he is mentioned as joining The Prattsburgh church alone. He is known to have remarried to Polly Crandall before 1815.
The exact date of death of Esther is unknown as is her burial site. She does not appear to have been buried in the Old Marcellus Cemetery in the village or at least there is no record of it. However, this cemetery was only in existence for a very few years before she died and records were not complete in the early days. I am guessing she is either buried here or in the Old Seymour Farm Cemetery where a daughter, Lindey Gillett Seymour was later buried outside Marcellus. The Seymour Cemetery is an abandoned one and all stones are now missing. Only a very few burials are recorded here but my Grandmother, Myrtle Seymour Withey, who lived across from the cemetery told me when I was a child that there were many members of the family unrecorded and buried there.

Esther and Michael had nine children:
