Thomas Thoreson, for many years a resident of this community, having made his home on his 40-acre tract of land on the East side of the village for the past twenty years, died at the Park Falls hospital Friday evening, where he had been taken for medical treatment.

For the past several years Mr. Thoreson has been in poor health, and the week previous he had gone to Ashland for a medical examination. During that week his health failed fast and it was necessary to take him to the Park Falls hospital for treatment.

The deceased was born in Norway February 21, 1860, and he was over 73 years of age at the time of his death. He came to America during his youth, and during the greater part of his life followed woods work. He was frugal and saved his money so that during the last few years he has been taking life easy.

The funeral took place here Monday from the Stoltz Funeral Home with Rev. Tommendale in charge of the obituary services. The funeral was attended by his brother, Torry, of Minneapolis, and members of his nephew's families, Fred Thoreson and Wm. Fuller.

Thore Toresen, (aka Tom Thoresen), born 25 Feb 1860 at Svennes farm, Nord-Aurdal, Oppland County, Norway.

Two letters dated Feb and May of 1930 with return address of Glidden, Wisconsin, sent by Tom Thoresen to "Dear sister's daughter Emma" [Mrs. Emma (Viste) Rye] providing knowledge that this was another brother of Berit (Mrs. Bertha Viste). Berit had two brothers, Thorsten and Thore. One brother took the name of Tom Torrison, and the other took the name of Tom Thoresen. In one of the letters from this Tom (from Glidden, WI) he mentions his sister Joren (Jennie) in Mount Horeb, and provides her street address - Mrs. Jennie Matson, 403 Oak St, Mount Horeb, Wis.

Per several census records found for Tom Thoresen, he remained single and worked at a logging camp, as a cook in the Glidden area (his residence on the 1905, 1920 and 1930 census records was recorded as Jacobs, Ashland County, Wisconsin). He wrote that he lived on the edge of town, and worked in a sawmill for awhile.
