Wallace Henry Dixon was the son of Nicholas Dixon and Sarah Jane Phillips. Sarah died in 1896 of postpartum hemorrhage leaving behind eight small children. Wallace and three brothers were residents of The New England Home for Little Wanderers in 1900. Wallace was taken in by Jacob and Mary Wolfinger of Waldo, Ohio possibly from the Orphan Train. Wallace was in poor mental condition upon returning from his World War I military service. He had a guardian to look after him for many years.
