Helen J Harbison 91, of Little Rock went home to be with the Lord on April 10, 2014. She was born on May 24, 1922 to William and Cora Purcell in Equality, IL. "Mema", as she was known to her family, went back to school at the age of 40 where she received her bachelors degree in Elementary Education from UALR. After teaching kindergarten at Franklin Elementary School for 14 years, she retired in 1987.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Harbison, one sister and five brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Harris (Gene) of Little Rock; two sons, Richard Harbison of Cumming, GA. and Thomas Harbison (Florence) of Houston TX. Also survived by grandchildren, John Ben Bibb (Christine) of Gaithersburg, MD, Michelle Bibb of Little Rock, Jonathan Harbison (Jessica) of Cumming, GA, Joshua Harbison (Courtney) of Cumming, GA, Justin Harbison (Emily) of Houston, TX, USMC 2nd Lt. Jason Harbison (Neenah) of Camp Pendleton, CA; Five great-grandchildren, Alex, Presley, Reid, Trevor, Owen, Brookelynne and Willow.

Helen was a faithful member of Oak Park Baptist Church in Little Rock. She loved her Sunday School class and teacher Lawrence Hale.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Visitation will be held at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home 7724 Landers Rd. NLR, AR on Saturday, April 19, 2014 from 1-3 P.M. with services to follow at 3 P.M. with Dr. Joel Slayton officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to "The David and Maci Harris Memorial Fund" at Oak Park Baptist Church, 8200 Flintridge Rd., Little Rock, AR 72210.
