Major League Baseball Player. For sixteen seasons (1952 to 1955 and 1958 to 1969), he was a left-handed pitcher with the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates and Houston Astros. Born William Rodman Henry, he attended Pasadena High School in Texas. During this period, he participated in basketball and helped his school win the state championship title. He continued his athletics, as he played collegiate baseball at the University of Houston, where he caught the attention of a big league scout who signed him. Henry marked his Major League debut with the Red Sox on April 17, 1952 and pitched in 13 games that year. By 1958, he was utilized primarily as a reliever while with the Cubs and led the league with 65 games pitched in. Additionally, he produced a career-high 9 wins that season. In 1960 while with the Reds, Henry achieved all-star status. He experienced World Series action as a member of the 1961 National League Pennant-winning Reds' squad and pitched in two games during the 1961 Fall Classic against the New York Yankees. In 527 regular season games, he compiled a 46 win, 50 loss record with a 3.26 lifetime ERA in 913 innings pitched. Following his retirement from baseball, he worked in the boating industry.
