U.S. Congressman. Successful in banking, he entered politics and served as a member of the New York Assembly, (1840-41). In 1845, he was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-ninth Congress, serving until 1847. Declining to be a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his banking pursuits, was trustee of the Flushing Bank New York City, (1860-75) and latter died in retirement.
