LaVerne A. Deprey, age 80, a lifetime resident of Two Rivers, passed away Monday morning, February 3, 2014 at the Harmony Living Center of Two Rivers.
LaVerne was born in Two Rivers on September 30, 1933, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Voelker) Hoida. She attended St. Luke's Catholic Grade School and Washington High School in Two Rivers, graduating with the class of 1951. She remained very close with a group of cherished friends from her graduating class throughout the years. On May 15, 1954, she was united in marriage to Michael P. Deprey at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Two Rivers. He preceded her in death on August 26, 2004. The couple lived in Duluth, MN and Pensacola, FL and traveled extensively while Michael served as a member of the U.S. Air Force. Over the years, LaVerne was employed with Hamilton Industries; Olson, Winter & Fox Law Offices; and with the urology office of Dr. Robert Banker. She also volunteered as secretary of the Two Rivers Business Association for many years. LaVerne enjoyed camping and spending summers at a cottage on Kelly Lake with her family; she cherished the time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchild and enjoyed supporting all their activities; she enjoyed entertaining, crocheting, cooking; and loved her Tuesday evening card club. She loved to play cards and games. LaVerne accepted her disability with grace after being diagnosed with M.S. in 1979 and with the support of her husband, family, and loving caregivers she was able to live a beautiful, independent life. She never complained about her disability - she was always more concerned about others moreso than herself.
She is survived by her three children: Pat (Julie) Deprey of DePere, Timothy Deprey & partner, Scott Mork of Minneapolis, Minn, Amy (David) Zander of Two Rivers; five grandchildren: Tim (Maria) Zander, Dustin Zander & fiancé, Laura Brunner, Katherine Deprey & fiancé, Brandon Longley, Elizabeth (Murphy) O'Hearn, Anna (Stephen) Heimbecher; and one great granddaughter, Sophie Heimbecher. She is further survived by one sister, Arlene Costello of Fond du Lac & partner, Mike Bird; one niece, Mary (Chad) Wright of Hartland; one nephew, Daniel J. Costello of Golden, Colorado; and her loving and wonderful caregivers: Marie Boulanger, Pat Casavant, Wendy Fickett, Laura and 10 year old Emily Hayes-Stoeger, Connie Shillcox, Dawn Dimmick, and Tammy Muck. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Michael, and a brother-in-law, Tom Costello.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd., Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Reynebeau, with entombment in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc.

Your kindness will always be remembered.
