OBITUARY- Hartford Courant

WILLIAM GRANT WILSON.

William Grant Wilson, an old employee of the Colt Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company, died late Wednesday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry E. Parkhurst, No. 64 Brownell avenue, of ??? incident to old age. He was born in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, November 5, 1839 and was living there at the time of the John Brown raid. During the Civil War he came north to Springfield, Mass., where he entered the employ of the United States government in the arsenal in that city. Later he came to Hartford and entered the employ of the Colt Company, where he remained forty-two years. He was obliged to retire from active work three years ago owing to ill health. He was married April 9, 1865 to Miss Mary Elizabeth Stahl of Harpers Ferry. Mrs. Wilson died in 1908. Besides his daughter, with whom he lived, Mr. Wilson leaves a sister, Mrs. Mary E. Kirby of Harper's Ferry: Three grandchildren, Helen E. and Virginia M. Parkhurst of this city and Grace R. Wilson of Avalon, Pa. and several nephews and nieces. Constable James R. Graham of this city is a cousin by marriage, and the late Governor Willis Wilson of West Virginia was a brother. Mr. Wilson was a trustee of the South Park Methodist Church. The funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at No. 66 Brownell avenue. Rev. H.S. Scarborough, pastor of the South Park Methodist Church will officiate. The burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
