U.S. Congressman. Born in McCulloch Mills, Pennsylvania, he graduated from Jefferson College, in 1825, studied medicine, graduated from the medical department of the University of Pennsylvania in 1829 and commenced to practice medicine in Green Tree, Pennsylvania. Moving to Petersburg, Pennsylvania, in 1830, he continued to practice medicine until he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-third Congress, serving (1853-55). Not a candidate for re-nomination, he was a member of the Ohio State constitutional convention in 1874 and engaged in the practice of medicine until his death at age 72 in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.
