Kenneth and Marla Houston were married 24 January 1959.
Kenneth was serving with the US Army Reserves in Austin, Texas, when he went into active duty 8 May 1965.
He arrived in Vietnam 18 August 1965 and was assigned to Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 21st Artillery, 1st Calvary Division, USARV. His artillery unit was participating in Operation Masher/White Wing near LZ 4 west of Phung Du and 7 kilometers south southwest of Taun Quan, when they encountered large hostile forces. Kenneth died as a result of a hostile gunshot wound. The unit had 58 soldiers that died during the engagement against the hostile forces.
Kenneth served his country for at least 2 years.
Survived by his wife, Marla Houston Gilmore of Columbus, Georgia, and his father; Haskell D Gilmore of Bethany, Oklahoma and his mother; Rose L Friend of
Haysville, Kansas.
