Gladys Mae Hambrick Sigmon Alford, 72, of 9553 S.R. 62, Dillsboro, a former Vevay resident, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, in Lawrenceburg.

She was born Nov. 11, 1931, in Carrollton, Ky., the daughter of Russell and Selena Geter Hambrick. She lived in Switzerland County for several years but had resided in Aurora for 18 years, then in Dillsboro for the past five years. She was a former employee of the U.S. Shoe Corp. in Vevay, working later for Sky Chef at the Cincinnati Airport and at Thatcher Glass as a selector. She was a member of the Quercus Grove United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Judy Wallace of Dillsboro and Janie Ammons of Greendale; two sons, Robert Michael Sigmon of Allensville and Dennis Sigmon of Greendale; one stepson, Curtis Alford of Lansing, Mich.; one brother, Robert Clark Hambrick, hometown not available; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert Edwin Sigmon, Oct. 4, 1976; her second husband, Edwin Earl Alford Jr., April 1, 2000; one sister, Kathleen Webster; four brothers, Bonnie Gene Hambrick, Russell C. Hambrick, Ira Hambrick and Edward Hambrick; and one grandson.

Services will be at noon Thursday at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay, with burial in the Vevay Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the family. Cards are available at the funeral home.

Gladys Mae (Hambrick) Sigmon Alford, 72, of Dillsboro, formerly of Vevay, died Sunday, July 18, 2004 in Lawrenceburg. She was born November 11, 1931 in Carrollton, KY, the daughter of Russell Hambrick and Selena (Geter) Hambrick. She married Robert E. Sigmon on October 4, 1976. She later married Edwin Earl Alford Jr. on September 29, 1980 and he preceded her in death on April 1, 2000.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Wallace and husband Cecil of Dillsboro, Janie Ammons and husband Joseph of Greendale; two sons, Michael Sigmon of Allensville; Dennis Sigmon of Greendale, one stepson, Curtis Alford of Lansing, MI, one brother, Robert Clark Hambrick; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, William Joseph Henderson, one sister, Kathleen Webster, four brothers, Bonnie Gene Hambrick, Russell C. Hambrick, Ira Hambrick, Edward Hambrick and one daughter-in-law, Rose Sigmon.

Mrs. Alford worked at US Shoe in Vevay and the Sky Chef at the Cincinnati Airport. She was also employed with Thatcher Glass as a selector for thirteen years. She was a member of the Quercus Grove United Methodist Church at Quercus Grove.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 21, from 4-7 p.m. at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, Vevay. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 22 at 12 noon at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Wilks officiating. Burial will be in the Vevay Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family through the funeral home.
