World War II Veteran, US Navy

AQUILLA VLG. – Burlie Glenn Yost, 85, passed away Tuesday, April 2 at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II.

On March 28, 1951, he married Wanda Vance in Cleveland. They moved to Aquilla Village in 1959, where he served as mayor and councilman for over 40 years. He also served on the Geauga County Community Development Board.

Glenn had worked for 37 years for General Electric Company in Euclid.

He and his wife enjoyed extensive travelling, have been to all 48 contiguous states with their trailer, and were members of the former Chardon Campers Club.

He enjoyed outdoor activities and was active until his final days.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda; sons, Richard, of Aquilla Village, and Robert, of Madison Township; grandsons, Scott, Eric and Nathan; brother-in-law, John Vance, of Star City, W. Va.; nephews, William Yost, Richard Lee Yost and John “Van” Vance Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Stella May (nee Hochenberry) Yost; sisters, Flossie Yost and Bernice Matthews; and brothers, Ray and Charles.

Visitation is Sunday, April 6 from 6-8 p.m. at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.

Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 7 at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, 1290 Fairmont Road., Morgantown, W. Va.
