Gary was a member of the Oak Ridge Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by three children, Angela D. Congleton of Burlington, Kentucky, Jennifer L. Pracht and Matthew R. Congleton, both of Independence, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Hunter and Jaeger Pracht of Independence and Jacob Hart of Burlington; one brother, David Michael Congleton of Dry Ridge, Kentucky; two sisters, Cecillia Caren Lutes of Dry Ridge and Pronda Kay Todd of Booneville, Kentucky; and three nieces, Cheri A. Pennington and Sabrina Rouse of Dry Ridge and Krystle Hardy of Booneville.
