EMERY, Donald C., age 88, of Lake Placid, passed away at his home March 2, 2005. He moved to Lake Placid in 1988 from Spofford, N.H. After studying mechanical engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Mass., he was employed by Markem Machine Co. in Keene, N.H., where he served in many managerial positions during his 45 year tenure. He then continued offering his expertise to industry as Emery Consulting, Inc. He was the Chartering Chairman of the Keene Society of Manufacturing Engineers, a life-long member of the Elks #927, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #42. He was an untiring leader in many community activities, having been a member of the local Historic Society, Mt. Pistareen Grange, Spofford Volunteer Fire Department and served in many elected offices of Chesterfield, N.H. to include being a Town Selectman for six years during which he initiated the creation of the First Master Plan for Chesterfield. He was predeceased by his parents, Clifford Edgar Emery and Joy Eliza beth Dondale Emery; his loving wife of 64 years, Vanetta Hamilton Clawson and his sister, Joy Lillian Emery. He is survived by his daughter, Lucinda Vanetta Schiewe of Lake Placid; son, Clifford Donald Emery of Spofford, N.H.; daughter-in-law, Betsy A. Emery of Spofford, N.H.; son-in-law, Michael Bellaire of Lake Placid; grandchildren, Todd Emery Beal of Lake Placid, Katherine Emery Gorey of Greenfield, Mass., Kevin Richard Beal and Donald Clawson Emery, both of Spofford, N.H.; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A graveside memorial service was conducted at the Friedsam Cemetery in Chesterfield, N.H. Published in TBO.com on Mar. 10, 2005.
