He served in WWII as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was married for 50 years to Ruth Esther Stocks. They had three sons and three grandchildren.
Donald worked for the Los Angeles County Assessor for 20 years. He then worked for the U.S. Agency for International Development in Vietnam, the Philippines, Grenada and El Salvador. After retirement, he enjoyed supporting the Portland Public Library, the Audubon Society and Native American education causes.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, in Willamette National Cemetery.
