He attended Benjamin Franklin High School in Los Angeles and played collegiate football at the University of Utah. During his college years, he distinguished himself when he achieved All-Conference honors. He experienced a bowl game title when Utah won the Liberty Bowl Game in 1964. Selected by Green Bay during the 1964 NFL Draft, he played in 34 regular season games. Jacobs was a member of Vince Lombardi's 1965 NFL champion Packers team. Following his football career, he worked in the real estate industry in Utah. He is a member of the Utah Sports Hall of Fame. He died from a heart attack.
