Ellen G. Miner Porterfield Lawver, 89, of Connellsville, passed away peacefully Mon. May 29, 2017 in the Hempfield Manor, Greensburg. She was born Jan. 10, 1929 in Mill Run a daughter of the late Edward and Gertrude Bowers Miner. Ellen was a longtime resident of Connellsville. She had formerly worked in Connellsville at the former Crawford Tea Room and also for Maricondi's. She had also worked as an aide at the former Connellsville State General Hospital.
Ellen will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her loving sons Eugene Porterfield and wife Cindy of Greensburg and Daniel Porterfield of Connellsville, her grandchildren Lisa Bee-Etling (Rick) of Connellsville, Todd (Pam) Porterfield of Uniontown, Beth Porterfield (Mark Williams) of Uniontown, Camdon Porterfield of Greensburg, Larry Porterfield of Connellsville, Patrick Porterfield (Mary) of Rochester, IN., Liz Michael (Tim) of Mt. Pleasant, Courtney Clupper (Matthew) of Rochester, IN., and Chase Porterfield of Kewanna, IN., her 14 great grandchildren, her sister Evelyn Balsley of Connellsville, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Ellen was predeceased by her first husband Ellsworth Porterfield, her second husband John A. Lawver, her sisters Marcine Karpowich and Darlene Hiltabidel, her brothers Charles and Kenneth Miner, and her step-sister Twila Bowers.

Family and friends will be received Wed. from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and Thur. from 12 - 1:00 PM, the hour of a funeral service, in the Brooks Funeral Home Inc. 111 E. Green St. Connellsville (724-628-1430) with Rev. Matthew P. Goldsberry officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Normalville Cemetery.
