An American movie and television director, producer, writer and actor.American Movie and Television Director, Producer and Writer, husband of actress Celeste Holm 1938-1939 and father of the noted american Sociologist and Philosopher Ted Nelson. He began is career in Broadway in 1934. Director and Producer 1940-1970 he is best remembered for his films: "Duello at Diablo" (1966), "Charly" (1968), "Soldier Blue" (1970). Academy Award- winning for "Lilies of the Field" (1963) and Emmy Award-winning for TV series "Playhouse 90" (1956) for episode "Requiem for a Heavyweight"as best direction. Ralph died at the age of 71 years in 1987.
