Orlie Seal was born on May 18, 1921 in Sisseton, South Dakota to parents Olga (Sundahl) and Oscar Seal. He grew up with 4 siblings: sisters, Myrtis Erickson (currently residing in Hillsboro, Oregon) and Vera Miller (deceased), and brothers, Lyall and Orval (both deceased).
Orlie was drafted during the early stages of World War II where he was a member of 863rd Engineer Aviation Battalion serving in the Pacific Theater - mostly in the Philippines and New Guinea.
After the war, he returned home and spent time living in Portland, Oregon and Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was in Portland where he met the love of his life, Martha Suominen, who survives him. They were married March 26, 1961 and had two children: Debbie Seal of Vancouver, Washington and Dan (Jeanetta) Seal of Brush Prairie, Washington. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
Orlie and Martha resided in Battle Ground, Washington where they have lived for the last 40 years. Orlie retired from Fort Vancouver Plywood in the mid 80's after 20 plus years in Vancouver, Washington.
Through the great grace of God, Orlie was led to the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, where he remained as a member until he passed away peacefully on the morning of April 30, 2014, a few weeks before his 93rd birthday.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 32320 NE Lewisville Hwy, Battle Ground, WA 98604. Viewing was at the church on Monday morning prior to the service. Interment took place at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
