Annie Myrtle Childers, 85

Annie Myrtle Childers, 85, died Monday, April 28, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was of the Baptist faith. She was born in Beersheba Springs on May 29, 1928 to McKinley and Elease Walker Richardson, who preceded her in death along with her husband, Richard Henry Childers; son, Raymond Richardson; sisters, Cleo Bouldin, Mary Jane and Iola Grace Richardson.

She is survived by her sons Melvin (Elaine), Richard (Kim), Ted (Peggy) and Ralph (Kay) Childers; daughters Donna Childers, Wanda (Bruce) Meeks and Patricia (J.L.) Smith; daughter-in-law, Cathy Richardson; sister, Hazel Richardson; 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Layne Funeral Home Chapel with minister Alton Scruggs officiating with burial to follow at Altamont Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Layne Funeral Home in Altamont. (www.laynefuneralhome.com.)
