ORFORDVILLE — The Rev. Lauritz S. J. Reque, 79, Duluth, Minn., former Orfordville pastor, died Friday in Duluth. Born in Gilchrlst, Minn., Reque was graduated from Wilmer seminary in 1890 and the Lutheran seminary in Minneapolis in 1897. He was ordained in September, 1897, at Half-Way Creek church, La Crosse county. He was married to Thora Hjermstad in 1898 and served as pastor at Helena, Mont., and Spring Prairie, Deforest, and Galesville, Wis., until he retired in 1941. After his retirement he served as supply pastor at Janesville and Oconomowoc, and at Luther Valley church for 2 1/2 years while the Rev. Marcus Lewis was a Navy chaplain. In 1947 he was honored on the 50th anniversary of his ordination at East Luther Valley church. He is survived by his wife and five sons, Ulrich, Herman, Odd, Paul, and Thoralf. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm, Monday in Hardy's Creek Lutheran church, Galesville. Burial will be at Galesville.

NOTE: Place of Burial originally added as Hardies Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, in Ettrick, Trempealeau County, Wisconsin. No headstone was found in Sept 2015, per photo request. Further research indicates he is buried in Halfway Creek Cemetery, in Holmen, La Crosse County, Wisconsin.
