Clifford J. Richardson, Sr., 87, Feb. 10, 1927 May 04, 2014

Cliff passed away peacefully May 4, 2014, with family by his side.

He was born to Clifford Louis and Easter Belle Richardson in Portland. Cliff joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943 at the age of 16. He proudly served his country during WWII and the Korean War. He was in action during WWII on Peleliu, Okinawa, and in China. In Korea, he saw action at Inchon, Seoul and the Chosen Reservoir. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps at the rank of sergeant.

In 1952, he met Donna Carne who was a nurse in the U.S. Navy. They married in the same year and over time, had four children, Laura, Kate, Cliff Jr. and Bill. After the military, he was employed as a civilian police officer at the Bremerton Naval Base in Washington. He then worked in the sheet metal industry until his retirement. His fondest memories working at B & B Metal.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Edna and Gloria; brothers, Walt (Army WWII), Carl (Navy WWII) and Frank (Navy WWII).

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 62 years; daughters, Laura Lindsey (Gregg) and Kate Denney; sons, Cliff Jr. (Vicki) and Bill (Emily); nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and another waiting to join our family.

Other than his family, he had no greater love than his beloved U.S.M.C.

Full military honors were held Wednesday, May 7, 2014, in Willamette National Cemetery.

Special thanks to Portland Providence Hospice for their excellent assistance and Cornerstone Funeral Services for their professionalism and gentle handling of our loss.
