Robert Keith Hargrave passed away peacefully, with his loving family at his side, at the age of 88.

A lifelong resident of Fresno, Keith was born to Herbert and Irene Hargrave. He attended local schools and graduated from Fresno High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served honorably in WWII. Upon completion of his service to our country, he attended Fresno State College and California Commercial College. Keith went to work as a salesman for Blake, Moffit and Towne Paper Company. In 1955, Keith joined his father, Herbert R. Hargrave, as the assistant manager of Chapel of the Light. He later became the Manager and Vice President of Chapel of the Light in 1979. Keith continued to work for the chapel until his retirement in November after 58 years of dedicated and loyal service.

Keith was an involved community leader, he was a past President of the Cremation Association of North America (CANA), past Head Trader of the Fresno Trade Club, past President of the Navy League, past board member and Chairman of the American Red Cross of Fresno/Madera, past President of Toast Masters, 50 year member of the Fresno Lodge No. 247 Free and Accepted Masons, member of the Historical Society, Director Emeritus of the Cemetery and Mortuary Association of California, member of Gyro International and served in many positions within the Lions Club International and most notably as a life member and past secretary of the Fresno Host Lions. He was also appointed by Governor Pete Wilson to serve as Chairman of the California State Cemetery Board 1992 - 1995 and served as a member until 1997.

Keith is survived by his wife of 65 years, Phyllis; his children, Tamara Hargrave, Deirdre Hargrave and Kelby Hargrave and his wife Cindi. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Thea Davis, Morgan Weibel, Stacey Potts and her husband Richard, Evan Hargrave, Tyler Hargrave and Brandon Hargrave. Keith also leaves behind a great granddaughter, Olive Hargrave.

Funeral Services: Northwest Church.

Interment: Garden of Love Mausoleum, Chapel of the Light.
