She was born on May 13, 1935 in Chicago to Joseph and Sophie (Gelchshiemer) Haydysch. She married Edward Ray Curtis on August 5, 1955 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Palatine.
May-June was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Cary. She loved cooking and baking for her family and her food was always excellent. She also enjoyed gardening, raising canaries, going fishing, and making wine. Her greatest joy was participating in the lives of her grandchildren and supporting them in all their activities and numerous events. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Edward Ray Curtis; her daughters, Terry (Mark) Walke, and Deborah (Michael) Cooney; her grandchildren, Steven (Melissa) Walke, Heather (Brad) Michels, Shawn (Janice) Cooney, and Erin (Cooney) Young; her great granddaughter, Lillian Agnes-May Cooney; her brothers and sisters, Clarence (Shelly) Haydysch, Patricia Stahl, Nancy (Frank) Cornelius, Ken (Lois) Haydysch, Rose (George) Walgren, and Sandra (Edward) Raske; as well as many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; two brothers in-law, Arlyn Tiede, and Jerry Stahl; and a grandson, Tyler Young.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 1-5pm at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave. in Woodstock. The visitation will continue on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2107 Three Oaks Rd, in Cary. Interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Woodstock.
