Born about 593 in Carthage to a father named Rogas. She married Heraclius on the day of his coronation, took the name Eudocia (Eudokia), and was given the title "Augusta." She died at Blachernae Palace in Constantinople in 612, having given birth to two children, daughter Epiphania and son Heraclius Constantine. Her husband married secondly his niece, Martina. Although his second marriage lasted nearly 30 years, he was buried next to Fabia Eudocia. The story is told that during Eudocia's funeral procession, a young maid spit from a window, and the spittle landed, with no intention on the part of the maid, on the robes of the queen in her coffin. This was considered such an outrage to the much-beloved queen, that the young woman was burned alive.
