SKOWHEGAN - Leon Joseph Guerette, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at Redington-Fairview Hospital. He was born in Van Buren, the youngest son of Cyrille and Heloise (Gagnon) Guerette. His family moved to Waterville when he was young. He has lived in the Fairfield area most of his life.

At one time he was a contractor in the Waterville, Fairfield area. He enjoyed carpentry his entire life. He had built his own home and helped build the homes of his three sons.

He retired from the former Keyes Fibre Co. many years ago.

He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. When his grandchildren were very young, he would delight in teaching them French words and phrases. Pepere was also always available to hand out peppermints to his grandchildren at a moments' notice.

He is survived by three sons, Leon J. Guerette Jr. and his wife, Dorothy, Lionel R. Guerette and his wife, Gloria, and Richard J. Guerette and his wife, Marsha; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Martha Marie; seven sisters; and one brother.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Oakland. There will be no public viewing. No flowers per the deceased's request. Family and friends are invited to the home of Leon J. and Dorothy Guerette, after the service at 80 Gagnon Road, Fairfield.
