George Walter McPhail,73, of Farmersville died Friday, May 23, 2014, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield.

Funeral services for Mr. McPhail are scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, at the Bramley Funeral Home in Divernon at 10 a.m. The Rev. Brian Lester will officiate, and burial will be in Brush Creek Cemetery, Divernon. Visitation is from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at Bramley's.

He was born on March 17, 1941, in Springfield to Rosemary McPhail. He and Helma Henke were married on Sept. 1,1963, in Farmersville, and she survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Brenda Beal of Jacksonville, Donna (Brandon) Snyder of Glenarm, and Missy McPhail of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, Peyton, Danyon, Faith, and Jonah; his mother, Rosemary Barbee of Farmersville; four nephews and one niece.

A retiree from the Illinois Department of Transportation, he was a member of the Farmersville Fire Department and of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Farmersville. He also served for many years on the Farmersville Library Board.

Memorials may be directed to the Farmersville Library or to one of two gospel groups, The Lesters or The Chosen Ones.
