She will be especially remembered for her kindness and caring of Herbert,her mother, Helen and her sister, Dorothy, during each of their later years of declining health.
She lived most of her life in the Charleston area in the small towns of Pinch, Rand and Quick and worked for the Kanawha County Board of Education until her retirement.
Betty was an avid gardener and cook. She is dearly remembered for her great canned vegetables, the garden and for the wonderful holiday meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was an expert caregiver to neighbors and members of her family.
Survivors include her three children, Judith Booth of Davidson,NC, Johnnie L. Young of Charleston, and Ronald G. Young of Beaufort,SC. Betty is also survived by her sister, Alice Pauley of Charleston. She has six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and seven great-great- grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial were held in private at Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney, on Sunday, December 01, 2013.
Stevens and Grass Funeral Home, Malden, WV was in charge of arrangements.
