He was lieutenant in his uncle Michael's company in Dunmore's War and lieutenent in his uncle;s company which marched to Boston in 1775, he was a farmer and a Methodist class leader, and was elected to the Maryland state senate as a Federalist from Allegany Co. Maryland. He was married four times, Deborah Whitehead, Sarah Whitehead (Deborah sister), Sidney Sanfork, Margaret Bruce.
