HELEN RUBY THOMPSON CROCKER


CROCKER, HELEN RUBY THOMPSON, age 91, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away Monday, July 13, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Crocker, Jr., of almost 62 years of marriage; her parents, Knoxie Stinson Thompson and Elbert G. Thompson; a brother, John W. Thompson; a sister, Mary Elizabeth McLemore; and a son-in-law, Stephen F. Thompson, Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Thompson and Margaret C. Gray (Frank); four grandchildren, Stephen F. Thompson, Jr. (Hannah), Amy Thompson, William Gray (Elizabeth), and Laura Gray; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Laura P. McLaughlin and Peggy Kimbrough (Jim); and sisters-in-law, Jackie Thompson and Fay Crocker. She was an active member of Wylam Baptist Church for 77 years until it closed and then became a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church in 2005. At Wylam, she was a Sunday School teacher, member of W.M.U. and a G.A. leader. She graduated from Ensley High School and was retired from Amsouth Bank. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 11:00 am at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel with visitation one hour prior to service and burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery and Jerry Curry officiating.
