Lillian was born in McLennan County, Texas, to the late William LaFayette and Annie Mae Ballard. She worked as a supervisor of communications for the U.S. Postal Service in Washington, D.C. for many years. Lillian was a proud military wife and loved the U.S. Armed Forces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Dunkle; brothers, Wesley Ballard and Billy Earl Ballard; and sister, Alta Lassetter.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim Cox and husband, Darrell, of Novato, CA; grandson, Joseph David Cox, of Novato, CA; sister, Sallye Tucker, of Axtel, TX; nephews, Sam Tucker, Billy Joe Tucker, Chris Tucker, Billy Earl Ballard, Jr. and Doyle Ballard; nieces, Cynthia Tucker, Cathey Bennett, Donna Ray, Ruth O'Bryan, Margie Ballard, Pam Young, and Debbie Ballard; and many other relatives and numerous friends.
