Major League Baseball Player. As a right handed pitcher, he made his debut for the Boston Red Sox on June 27, 1936. For five seasons, he played mostly as a relief pitcher with the Boston Red Sox (1936, 38-41). With the advent of World War II, he joined and served in the US Navy. He ended his career with a record of 22 wins, 15 loss, 6 complete games, one shutout, 8 saves, 126 strike outs and a 5.33 average. After the war, he became a highly respected baseball couch at Princeton University, (1949-51). His teams won two Eastern League championships, tied one, reached the College World Series in 1951 and were the only Princeton varsity team to achieve that honor.
