His third wife was Amanda Taylor Edwards, born 27 September 1834, New York, died 24 September 1923. He married Amanda in Chicago, Illinois. She was the daughter of Thomas Clark and Betsey (Foote) Edwards. She died in Los Angeles, California.
In 1840, Pardon started a business of the "Letter Express," which delivered mail to outgoing boats and trains. By 1870, he went into Real Estate. He was a very successful and distinguished man.
