Mrs. Connie Mell Hubbard Hickerson 71 expired on Tuesday June 3, 2014 after a brief illness. Mrs. Hickerson is a retired state and federal employee and a former First Lady of several churches in the greater Washington DC and Pensacola area. She was a full time volunteer for Dixon School of the Arts.

Mrs. Hickerson is lovingly survived by her devoted husband the Reverend Ernest A. Hickerson, Sr., & his son Ernest A. Hickerson, Jr., daughters Ava Abney, Wilma (David "Cymone" Turner) Bommer; grandchildren Cameron, Morgan, Olivia & Colby; brother & sister-in-law Bernard & Marie Hubbard, sisters & brothers-in-law Ollie Carter, Johnnie Cole, Florencie Williams, Anne & Robert Burton; sister & brothers-in-law Dr Otrie & Robert Smith & the Reverend Willis M. Hickerson as well as numerous other relatives & friends.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday 11 am at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Jenkins, Sr., presiding, Rev. E. A. Hickerson, Eulogist with BENBOE FUNERAL HOME directing. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, VA. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family humbly request that love offerings be made to the Connie Mell Hickerson Dixon School of the Arts legacy scholarship in care of Regions Bank.
