American Actress. Laemmle, who was a movie actress in the 1920s and 30s, was the niece of Universal Pictures studio founder Carl Laemmle. She studied ballet and acting and appeared in such films as 'The Phantom of the Opera' (1925), 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' (1927), 'The Gate Crasher' (1928), 'The Hollywood Review of 1929' (1929), 'The Broadway Melody' (1929), 'King of Jazz' (1930), 'Dracula' (1931), 'His Last Fling' (1935), 'The Adventures of Frank Merriwell' (1936) and as a ballet dancer in 'On Your Toes' (1939). She shared the screen with such horror movie legends as Lon Chaney and Bela Lugosi before retiring from pictures. Her next movie credit came more than 70 years later in 'Pooltime' (2010) followed by roles in 'A Sad State of Affairs' (2013) and 'Mansion of Blood' (2014). A documentary short about her life, 'Among the Rugged Peaks: The Carla Laemmle Story', was made in 2011. She died in her sleep at the age of 104. (bio by: Louis Mata)

Rest in peace, ma'am. I just saw you (again) as the prima ballerina in Phantom of the Opera, and you and your performance was lovely. I've also enjoyed your recent years on-camera interviews. Thank you for everything.
