THOMASVILLE - Robert Walser Batten Sr., a resident of 904 Blackstone Circle died Sunday at 12:52 a.m. at Community General Hospital.
He was born in Thomasville a son of John D. Batten and Nancy Ann Blake Batten and was a lifelong resident of Thomasville. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and was president of Auto Supply Company which was founded in 1954. On June 13, 1935 he was married to Miss Daisy Ruth Moose who died Feb. 8, 1993.
Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Carol Tomlinson of Charlotte; two sons, Robert W. Batten Jr. of 920 Overbrook Dr. and Tim Batten of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Robert W. Batten III, Bradley E. Batten, Carol Lee Novick, Melanie G. Tomlinson; stepgrandaughter, Laurel Henley; great-granddaughter, Jordon Novick.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at J.C. Green and Sons chapel by Dr. Orion N. Hutchinson Jr. and the Rev. David P. Calhoun. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 tonight and other times at the home of a son, Robert W. Batten Jr., 920 Overbrook Drive.
