Marjorie was born March 29, 1919 at the family farm in Osborne County, Kansas, the daughter of Roy E. and Jessie Rose "Dolly" (Luder) Keller. She grew up in the Waldo area and graduated from Waldo High School in 1937.
Marjorie was united in marriage to Willard "Jim" Palmer on October 15, 1939 at her parent's home. This union was blessed with three boys; Jimmie Lee, Roy Edward and John Alan. They made their home in the Waldo area. Jim preceded her in death in 1979. Later she was united in marriage to William "Bill" E. Green on August 8, 1981. They lived a full life until his passing in 2008.
Marjorie was a Cosmetologist, housewife, homemaker and a great cook. She always was helping on the family farm and hauled a lot of wheat to town. She was a member of the Waldo United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women. She also belonged to the Lucas Order of the Eastern Star and the Luray Ladies Auxiliary. She loved dancing and listening to Polka music. She could be spotted moving around to the music in her favorite chair right up to her passing.
Surviving family include her son, John Palmer and wife Cinda of Luray, Kansas; granddaughters, Kayla Phillips and husband Jerry of Galva, Kansas and Kelly Alexander and husband Daril of McPherson, Kansas; grandsons, Jon Palmer and wife Terry of Larned, Kansas and Mike Palmer and wife Julie of Bentonville, Arkansas; 17 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren; step daughter, Roxy (Green) Tate and husband Mickey of Sugarland, Texas; step grandchildren, Sara Gailani and husband Basil of Houston, Texas and Patrick Cuddy and wife Sarah of Dodge City, Kansas; and step great grandson, Isaac Cuddy of Dodge City, Kansas; former daughter-in-laws, Sally Schuckman of McPherson, Kansas and Teresa Lahar of Great Bend, Kansas and special friend, Betty Hubbard White of Chicago, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; sons, Jimmie Lee Palmer and Roy Edward Palmer; sister Rosa Lee Keller; brother Everett Keller; and great granddaughter, Karsyn Alvord.
Celebration of Marjorie's Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Waldo United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Grand Center Cemetery north of Waldo. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, is in charge of these arrangements. (KRSL Radio)
