Philomena Muenzenmayer
Philomena "Phyllis" Muenzenmayer, 79, of Melrose, formerly of the North End, died December 25, 2008, at the Daniel's House in Reading, following a lengthy illness. Born and raised in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Corrado and Conchetta (Amenta) Listro. Mrs. Muenzenmayer worked as a stitcher for several retail clothing stores and later as a homemaker for the elderly. She was famous for her delicious brownies and homemade pizza. "Aunt Philly" adored children and loved entertaining her many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of Denise Muenzenmayer of Reading; aunt of six nieces and four nephews; great aunt of six grandnieces and 12 grandnephews; and a dear friend to many. She was the sister of the late Michael, Joseph and Salvatore Listro. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, December 30, at 9 a.m. in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Herbert Street, Melrose, followed by burial in Waterside Cemetery, Wakefield. Visiting hours will be Monday, December 29, 4-7 p.m. at Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., Stoneham.
